Meet SECONDSENSE: The Breakthrough AI That’s Reinventing Resale Forever
SECONDSENSE Is The Game-Changing AI That’s Ending Secondhand Chaos
A few weeks ago, Alix Earle, the internet’s favorite big sister, spoke at Harvard Business School and did something most influencers don’t: she passed the mic. Instead of making it all about her, she gave the spotlight to a few students building things with real-world impact. That’s how I found out about SECONDSENSE.
It started with a late-night scroll (don’t we all?), but for founder Chris Lucas, it wasn’t just doomscrolling. It was 37 tabs open, trying to figure out if he was overpaying for a secondhand item. That moment sparked the idea:
Why isn’t there a Carvana for clothes? A Zillow for handbags?
Why are secondhand shoppers left guessing?
That’s where SECONDSENSE comes in: a resale market intelligence platform that aggregates listings across different sites and uses AI to tell you if you’re getting a good deal, or not.
Think: smarter shopping meets climate-conscious style.
💬 “Secondhand isn’t one marketplace—it’s a hundred disconnected ones,” Chris told me. “SECONDSENSE brings everything into one view so you can stop guessing and start shopping with confidence.”
But it wasn’t always easy.
When I asked about the biggest challenge in launching the startup, Chris didn’t mention funding or competition. Instead, he said it was… himself.
“It’s easy to psych yourself out with thoughts like, ‘If this was a real problem, wouldn’t someone smarter or richer have solved it already?’”
Entrepreneurship classes and mentors helped him push past that, especially a course taught by Professor Reza Satchu. The takeaway? Launch anyway. Learn fast. Iterate.
So how does SECONDSENSE actually work?
Behind the scenes, their AI pulls pricing data from multiple resale platforms, learns from every new data point, and gets smarter over time. It’s like a price-check tool—but with superpowers.
And that’s exactly the kind of tech we need to make fashion more sustainable.
“The data in resale is a mess—unstructured, inconsistent, fragmented. But recent AI advancements allow machines to actually understand this chaos,” Chris explained.
“That’s the unlock. We fix the experience, we unlock more people who want to shop sustainably—but don’t, because the experience is frustrating.”
Oh, and one more thing...
Chris’ favorite secondhand score? A Saint Laurent coat, scored at 70% off. “It has these overly padded shoulders that give me sharp, serious energy. I wear it to meetings when I want the extra confidence.” Iconic.
As someone who covers fashion, tech, and the future of resale, I’m officially sold. And judging by the fact that SECONDSENSE nearly broke when Alix Earle shared it, I’m not the only one.
Oh , and if you're as convinced with SECONDSENSE as I am, good news: they’re hiring!
The team is growing fast, from social media and branding to AI roles. If you're into fashion, tech, or just love making more intelligent systems, message them at hello@secondsense.co to learn more and apply.
You might just end up shaping the future of resale.
